Work/Other Experience

I think that my work experience is the greatest asset that I bring to Walden. I came to the U.S. from Trinidad and Tobago, which gives me a unique perspective on an important population that many hospitals serve, which are patients with immigrant backgrounds. I went through a lot to succeed in America. In the past, I worked as a Nurses Aid with disabled individuals. The rest of my nursing career has been spent at Beth Israel Medical Center, first as a Graduate Nurse and then as an RN/Charge Nurse in the Medical-Surgical Unit. I am excellent at what I do and I love it.

In addition, I am drawn to the fact that I would be in class with other working nurses from a wide variety of hospitals and organizations, exposing me to a diverse and active student body. I am also encouraged by the expertise of the faculty. I am excited about the prospect of taking part in an online program, specifically because it will allow me to structure my program in a more flexible way and continue to work at a place that I love very much. While I will be fully committed to Walden upon admission, I do not want to give up what brought me here, which is my love for my hospital and my patients.
